Resumen:

El software está cambiando radicalmente la sociedad, y el software libre está cambiando radicalmente la forma en que construimos, desarrollamos, distribuimos y comercializamos el software. Para aprovechar el potencial del software libre, es necesario crear un ecosistema viable que conecte a las PYMES, a las grandes compañías, a los centros de investigación, a las universidades y a las comunidades de desarrolladores. En este charla se presentan las principales lecciones aprendidas durante cinco años de actividad para estructurar este ecosistema en la zona de Paris, que ha llevado a la creación del Free Software Thematic Group en el cluster de competitividad System@tic, así como al establecimiento de la iniciativa IRILL entre Inria, la Universidad Paris Diderot y la Universidad Pierre et Marie Curie.

Summary:

Software is radically changing society, and Free Software is radically changing the way we build, develop, distribute and market software. To fully leverage the potential of Free Software, it is necessary to create
a viable ecosystem connecting SMEs, big companies, research centers, universities, and developer communities. In this talk, we will present the main lessons learned during five years of efforts to structure this ecosystem in the Paris area, which have led to the creation of the Free Software Thematic Group in the System@tic competitiveness cluster, and to the establishment of the IRILL joint initiative between Inria, University Paris Diderot and University Pierre et Marie Curie.

Sobre Roberto Di Cosmo:

Roberto Di Cosmo posee un grado superior en Ingeniería Informática y es profesor en la Universidad Paris Diderot, después de haber impartido clases durante casi una década en el Ecole Normale Supérieure en París, y haber pasado unos cuantos años en INRIA.

Ha participado activamente en la investigación en el área de informática teórica, especialmente en programación funcional, computación distribuida, semántica de lenguajes de programación, sistemas de mecanografiado, reescritura y lógica lineal.

A raíz de la evolución de nuestra sociedad tras el impacto de las nuevas tecnologías, Roberto se ha unido al movimiento del software libre, contribuyendo con su difusión desde 1998 con el libro "Hijacking the world", seminarios, artículos y software.

Ha creado el Free Software Thematic Group en System@tic en Octubre de 2007, coordina el proyecto Mancoosi European, dedicado a mejorar la calidad de las distribuciones GNU/Linux, y lidera la iniciativa IRILL entre INRIA, Universidad Paris Diderot y la Universidad Pierre et Marie Curie.

Roberto Di Cosmo holds a PhD in Computer Science and is currently Computer Science professor at University Paris Diderot, after teaching
for almost a decade at Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris, and spending a few years at INRIA.

He has been actively involved in research in theoretical computing, specifically in functional programming, parallel and distributed programming, the semantics of programming languages, type systems, rewriting and linear logic.

Following the evolution of our society under the impact of IT with great interest, he has been a Free Software advocate, contributing to its
adoption since 1998 with the best-seller “Hijacking the world”, seminars, articles and software.

He has created the Free Software thematic group of System@tic in October 2007, coordinates the Mancoosi European project dedicated to improving the quality of GNU/Linux distributions, and leads the IRILL joint initiative between INRIA, University Paris Diderot and University Pierre et Marie Curie.
